English Breakfast & Afternoon Teas

MDF, gloss paint, 2000

This wall relief uses the iconography of the timber-framed building, a construction technique which started of as a practical way of solving structural problems, but which has been reduced to a mere visual device. The piece exaggerates this visual devise by rendering the timber frame as an image in perspective, disorienting the viewer as in a fair ground hall of mirrors or haunted house.

This piece was made for the group exhibition DIY, 19 Glengall Road, London. Click here for review.
