Packaging Watercolours

Watercolour on paper, 2001-2008

This series of watercolour drawings is concerned with fictionalised and idealised representations of nature and place. They use the utopic pastoral scenes of food packaging representing a romanticised countryside which no longer exists, rendered as the traditional landscape watercolour.

Pieces from this series have been exhibited at Wohnmaschine, Berlin; Vane, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; Die Drostei, Pinneberg, Germany and in various group shows in London. Pieces reside in various private collections as well as The Kupferstichkabinett – The National Gallery’s museum of prints and drawings, Berlin.
